Biography
The versatile German soprano Brigitte Hahn debutes in the season 2017/18 as Madame Lidoine (Dialogues des Carmélites) in a new production at Hanover Opera.
In recent years Brigitte Hahn performed major roles of the Italian repertoire at Hanover opera. She was heard as Desdemona (Otello), Elisabetta (Don Carlo), Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), Amelia (Un ballo in maschera), Leonora (La forza del destino) and sang the title roles of Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Turandot und La Wally.
She also focuses on the dramatic roles of the German repertoire. She sang Brünnhilde in a new production of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen at Hanover State Opera. Further roles in Hanover include Senta (Der fliegende Holländer), Elisabeth (Tannhäuser), Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier), Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos), Gertraud (Der Traumgörge) and Leonore (Fidelio). Her first Isolde (Tristan und Isolde) she sang with huge success at Chemnitz Opera.
Further roles at Hanover State Opera included Tatyana (Eugene Onegin), Elettra (Idomeneo), Anna Maurant (Street Scene), Foreign Princess (Rusalka) and Gertrud (Hänsel und Gretel).
As guest Brigitte Hahn sang Contessa (Le Nozze di Figaro), Violetta (La Traviata) and Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier) at Wiener Staatsoper; Contessa, Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) and Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes) at Opéra de Bastille Paris; Leonore (Fidelio), Elisabeth (Tannhäuser), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) at Semperoper Dresden; Marschallin at Scala di Milano, Donna Anna at Bayerische Staatsoper Munich; Roxane (Król Roger), Ellen Orford and Rosalinde at Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam; Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito) and Helena (A Midsummernight's Dream; DVD release) at Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona; Leonora (Il Trovatore), Violetta, Konstanze and Olympia/Antonia/Giulietta (Les contes d'Hoffmann) at Deutsche Oper Berlin; Donna Anna and Alice (Robert le Diable) at Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin; Tschang Haitang (Der Kreidekreis) at Opernhaus Zürich and Elsa (Lohengrin) at Teatro Verdi Trieste.
She was a member of the Hamburg State Opera where she performed roles like Lucia di Lammermoor, Donna Anna, Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Rosalinde, Mimi (La Bohème), Liù (Turandot) and Marschallin.
Roles like the title role in Norma, Armgard (Die Rheinnixen), Elisabetta in Donizettis Les Exilés en Sibérie (CD release) and Elena (La Donna del Lago) at the Festival Radio France, Montpellier show the broad diversity of the artist.
Brigitte Hahn works with important conductors like: Ingo Metzmacher, Armin Jordan, Peter Schneider, Hartmut Haenchen, Marc Minkowski, Fabio Luisi, Adam Fischer, Giuliano Carella, Stefano Ranzani, Marco Armiliato, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Jesus Lopez-Cobos, Philippe Jordan, Ivor Bolton, Jacek Kasprzyk and Marek Janowski.
The artist is born in Duisburg. After her studies at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, she became a member of the Landestheater Coburg and later of the Nationaltheater Mannheim.
